Circulating Endocannabinoids in Canine Multicentric Lymphoma Patients
Observational studyDogs
- Design
- Observational study
- Subjects
- 26 dogs with B-cell lymphoma, 14 with T-cell lymphoma, 12 healthy control dogs
- Dose used in the study
- No PEA given. Serum levels of the dog's own PEA and other endocannabinoids were measured
- Duration
- Single measurement, with survival follow-up
- What was measured
- Serum 2-AG, oleoylethanolamide, anandamide and PEA by mass spectrometry; progression-free interval and survival
What the authors reported
PEA, oleoylethanolamide and anandamide were higher in dogs with lymphoma than in healthy dogs. Higher PEA was associated with a shorter progression-free interval (hazard ratio 1.8, p = 0.04).
Limits of this study
A study of the body's own PEA as a disease marker, not of supplementation. 52 dogs from one centre. The association with faster progression is a correlation in a small group and says nothing about giving PEA. Authors declare no conflicts.
