Looking for Responders among Women with Chronic Pelvic Pain Treated with a Comicronized Formulation of Micronized Palmitoylethanolamide and Polydatin
Meta-analysisHumansWith polydatin
This study tested palmitoylethanolamide together with polydatin. Its results cannot be assigned to palmitoylethanolamide alone. More combination studies.
- Design
- Meta-analysis
- Subjects
- Individual patient data from the published studies of women with chronic pelvic pain, dyspareunia, dysuria, dyschezia or dysmenorrhoea treated with the combination
- Dose used in the study
- Micronised palmitoylethanolamide with polydatin, short courses
- Duration
- 3-month follow-up
- What was measured
- Conditional probability of a good response (pain score down 3 or more), poor response or no response, by baseline variables.
What the authors reported
More than half of women were good responders. Women with a baseline pain score above 6 were the most likely to respond, whatever the underlying condition.
Limits of this study
The authors note that only short-course combination data could be assessed and that concerns about the literature remain; they wrote the paper to help plan a randomised trial. A responder analysis cannot show effect without a control group. Authors declare no conflicts.
