- What was measured
- A liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry method to measure anandamide, oleoylethanolamide and PEA in rat brain tissue, including recovery rates, sensitivity and reproducibility
What the authors reported
The method gave recovery rates of 85.4 to 89.5 percent for PEA, with a lower limit of quantification of 0.5 ng/mL, and intraday and interday accuracy and precision under 15 percent. The authors say it is suitable for measuring PEA in rat brain after drug-induced inhibition of the enzyme that breaks PEA down.
Limits of this study
A laboratory method-validation study, not a treatment study; it reports no biological or clinical effect of PEA. Funding and conflicts not stated in the abstract.
