What the authors reported
The authors describe multi-target effects through PPAR-alpha and the endocannabinoid system and a low rate of adverse reactions, mainly mild gastrointestinal discomfort and dizziness. They list the gaps as too few large multi-centre randomised trials, no standard formulation, little long-term follow-up, and unsettled dosing.
Limits of this study
A review, with no pooled analysis. The authors' own list of gaps applies to the evidence it summarises. The work was funded by Chinese public research programs, and the authors declared no conflicts.
