Palmitoylethanolamide/Luteolin as Adjuvant Therapy to Improve an Unusual Case of Camptocormia in a Patient with Parkinson's Disease: A Case Report
Case seriesHumansWith luteolin (co-ultramicronised with palmitoylethanolamide, um-PEALut)
This study tested palmitoylethanolamide together with luteolin (co-ultramicronised with palmitoylethanolamide, um-PEALut). Its results cannot be assigned to palmitoylethanolamide alone. More combination studies.
- Design
- Case series
- Subjects
- One patient with Parkinson's disease and camptocormia
- Dose used in the study
- Um-PEALut (co-ultramicronised palmitoylethanolamide and luteolin) added to carbidopa/levodopa therapy
- Duration
- 4 months
- What was measured
- Dyskinesia and camptocormia severity during 'on' and 'off' Parkinson's disease states after adding um-PEALut to dopaminergic therapy
What the authors reported
Adding um-PEALut to carbidopa/levodopa improved dyskinesia and reduced camptocormia. After 4 months of treatment the patient had complete resolution of leg and trunk dyskinesia and a marked reduction in camptocormia during 'off' states.
Limits of this study
A single case report with no control group; it cannot show effect beyond this one patient. The author declares no conflicts of interest relevant to the article.
