Randomised controlled trialHumans

Design
Randomised controlled trial
Subjects
28 healthy young men. All completed.

167.5 mg of Levagen+ (150 mg of palmitoylethanolamide) as a drink, before exercise, after exercise, and at 24 and 48 hours
Duration
Four laboratory visits over consecutive days
What was measured
Muscle soreness, thigh circumference, blood lactate, markers of muscle damage and markers of inflammation

What the authors reported

The authors reported lower myoglobin at 1, 2 and 3 hours after exercise and lower blood lactate at 1 and 3 hours in the Levagen+ group. They reported no difference between groups in muscle soreness or thigh circumference. No adverse effects were reported.

Limits of this study
